Her latest solo art exhibition ‘Maanchitra’ is on at the Jehangir Art Gallery, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai from 18 – 24 August 2024, Gallery no 1 from 11pm – 7pm daily.
Maanchitra, means the Atlas in English. Through this exhibition Poornima brings to life on canvas and on paper a vibrant , colorful mix of cities and countries from across the world. These are conceptually presented in anstract form using various techniques and textures.
Poornima specializes in the use of textures and modern – contemporary styles across her artworks. Poornima enjoys painting on both canvas and paper and the series presented in this exhibition involve the use of Kaleidoscopic colors and intense textures.
Each artwork represents the artists moods and reflections on life.
The cityscapes are semi-abstract and conceptual acrylic works that blend memory, imagination, and inner emotional growth. They present fictional urban landscapes rather than literal places, using geometric forms and patterns to symbolize human experiences and psychological states. She uses form play instead of strict architectural detailing.
Her artworks capture the complex structure and atmosphere of busy urban spaces using expressive hues and styles. Some of the artworks serve as visual diaries of emotional journeys, inner growth and incredible learnings.
The Resonance cityscape series, also a part of this exhibition, includes her artworks using special techniques that represent the artists moods at that point in time. She calls them her inner landscapes of emotions
